Sciensus private services update

Sciensus has been reviewing its cancer service processes in order to identify areas of improvement in patient safety, communication, and quality. As part of this change to drive elements of improvement, we are creating a new process of reporting patient updates into Sciensus.

There is now a dedicated phone line and email address for consultants to report patient deaths, hospital admissions and/or severe toxicities leading to deferred treatment. This is for the updating of Sciensus patient records.

This new dedicated communication pathway will drive improvements in the process for follow up calls with patients, and the following SBAR email to our consultants. This will also ensure more detailed information is recorded for our incident reporting.

All Neutropenic Sepsis and Severe Neutropenia reports will be sent to pharmacy for review as part of the investigation process.

There is also a new Sub Committee for the Unwell SACT Patient, created to monitor and review patient safety incidents relating to cancer hospital admissions, neutropenic sepsis and other severe toxicities which may cause SACT to be deferred or cancelled. The Committee for the Unwell SACT Patient will share trends and learning outcomes across the relevant areas of the business.

To report any safety incidents please use the below contact information.
